Alice grew up in Framingham, MA, where she studied piano from first grade on, and studied organ with her church organist all during high school. Alice graduated from Oberlin College, where she was a music minor, and studied organ there with professors at the Conservatory of Music. Alice has played organ in churches everywhere she’s lived. Her organ-playing training emphasized “classical” music, especially church music, which she loves! Alice learned to be a choir director through singing in choirs and choral societies for all of her life, and observing some very fine directors at work. She has also attended church music courses and institutes. Alice has been the organist and choir director at Federated Church for nearly 20 years.
Alice and her husband, David, have been married for 52 years — he’s a most devoted fan and occasional critic of my playing, and a fine page turner! We have 2 grown daughters and 4 grandchildren — and we now live in a log cabin in the woods.
Our choir always welcomes new singers, and we also love to work with instrumental or vocal soloists. Talk with her after the service any Sunday!
